"I am dying, being stabbed," a traditional song from Zimbabwe about the hardships imposed on the indigenous population by European colonization.

Chemutengure

A traditional song from Zimbabwe which expresses how the Africans viewed Zimbabwe's first European settlers.

Sanza

A traditional song from Gambia, in West Africa, which talks of a happy time in a particular village.

Zisani

A piece from the South African musical "Poppy Nongena" which tells the children of Azania (South Africa) that they can achieve their freedom by going to church and school.

Anzanga

"To our friends" in the Chichewa language of Malawi. Composed by Christopher Taremeredzwa Sparks when he was 12.

A piece based on a children's story with the moral: Don't cry about things you cannot change.

All songs arranged by Sheree Sparks.

Musicians: Neal Anderson, Brian Davis, Cynthia Davis, Stan Gofinch, Kyla Jones, Phillip Page, Christopher Sparks, Sheree Sparks (director), Karen Weisser, Simone Welsh. All of the musicians play marimbas and sing on this recording. In addition, Neal Anderson and Stan Gofinch play hosho, and Karen Weisser plays drums.
