Vakati Kurudzira

We chose Vakati Kurudzira, "Those who have inspired us," as the title for our recording to recognize that the music we play and express comes from and through others, particularly the Shona people of Zimbabwe. In the Shona tradition, ancestors and spirits are looked to for guidance in all aspects of life--from family matters to the fate of the environment. We have been influenced and inspired in many different ways by those who have played the music before us. In turn, we wish to pass on the inspiration we feel to others.

Nyaradzo

Nyaradzo is a Shona word meaning "peacemaker."

Anzanga

The word Anzanga comes from the ChiChewa language of Malawi, and means to "our friends."
