Project Management

  • Founded and directed successful consulting business for more than seven years.
  • Co-managed the design and implementation of a World Wide Web-based budgeting tool for the Seattle Public Schools.
  • Managed the joining of an existing retail store to the ComputerWare chain and co-managed the opening of a new retail location.
  • Planned, helped construct, and managed five trade show booths for ComputerWare, the highest-selling retailer at MacWorld Expo.
  • Supervised all aspects of planning and staging performances at the three-day Zimbabwean Music Festival for two years.

Participatory Design

  • Conducted site visits and interviews with librarians and Internet trainers during development of an online community.
  • Facilitated a series of meetings with community members and trained community on the use of an Internet-based school budgeting tool.
  • Initiated asset-based community development plans for the introduction of computer learning centers to low-income housing projects.
  • Developed public input strategies for the City of Seattle to use in its proposed development of a city-wide information network.

Interface Design & Usability Testing

  • Developed and user-tested online surveys for two large academic research projects.
  • Coordinated the design and creation of World Wide Web sites for several nonprofit organizations, including an Internet-based budgeting tool for the Seattle Public Schools.
  • Designed and tested prototypes of in-house support software for Apple Computer and ComputerWare.
  • Redesigned the interface for a department-wide database and created animated segments for public affairs videos at the Univ. of Washington.

Writing, Editing & Graphic Design

  • Published editorials, book reviews, and theses.
  • Edited and revised successful grant proposals.
  • Regularly edit academic manuscripts and books.
  • Designed and produced compact disc liner notes, imprints and flyers for musical groups.
  • Edited, wrote, and produced in-house newsletter for 100 person computer company.

Teaching

  • Created curricula and taught over one hundred classes on using the Macintosh computer, FileMaker and HyperCard application software.
  • Taught technical writing and oral presentation skills to engineering students at the University of Washington.
