TAX DAY leafleting
Downtown post office, 5th and Willamette, Eugene

Presenting resisted taxes to community and international peace and justice groups at 10:30 am. Please come at this time if you can to show support for the need to rewrite the federal budget to meet human needs. Also help with leafleting and holding banners any time during day or evening. Friday April 19 -- 7 pm
Salvadoran Labor Organizer Ricardo Monge
Univ. of Oregon, Willamette Hall, Rm. 100, Eugene

Mr. Monge will speak about building cross-border resistance to the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA.)
This event is co-sponsored by the Committee In Solidarity With Central American People (CISCAP), UO United Students Against Sweatshops, the Eugene/Springfield Solidarity Network and Jobs With Justice.


Saturday April 20 -- 12 pm
March for Global Justice
National Guard Armory, West 13th Street and Chambers, Eugene

We'll meet at the National Guard Armory at noon, get updates from activists working on issues from Israel/Palestine to the Wars on Drugs and Terrorism, then head for downtown to demonstrate our opposition to the injustice and insanity that characterize the direction this world is being taken. We'll conclude the march at the plaza on 8th and Oak Streets.

RAWA : The Revolutionary Association of Women of Afghanistan
Univ. of Oregon, Willamette Hall, Rm. 100, Eugene

Neesha Mirchandani and James Ingalls from the RAWA Board of Directors, and journalist Larry Everest will speak about the effects of war on the people of Afghanistan.

Univ. of Oregon, Erb Memorial Union (EMU) Ballroom, Eugene
$4 students / $7 faculty-staff / $10 general public

Moore is a liberal, labor writer and voting advocate. He is the author of the current #1 best selling book in the US and Canada, Stupid White Men and Other Sorry Excuses for The State of The Nation. He'll share interesting information with a standing-room-only crowd.

  • Oregon Peace Festival II -- Feb. 2
    Events including a statewide March & Rally for Peace and Economic Justice, and a speech by Winona LaDuke.

  • The Good War and Those Who Refused To Fight It -- Jan. 18, 2002
    A showing of the PBS documentary about the conscientious objectors who refused to fight in World War II, followed by a panel of local WWII conscientious objectors. See the announcement for more info.

  • UO Political Science Teach-ins
    -- Weds. Oct. 10 to Nov. 14
    Discussions on US Policy Options, International Student Perspectives, Middle East & Central Asia, The Clash of Civilizations, International Law, and Reforming American Foreign Policy. See the list of presentations for more info.

  • Understanding the USA/Patriot Bill -- Nov. 11
    How It Affects Our Civil Liberties
    This event featured speakers to talk about implications of the Bill, followed by discussion groups with floating advisors (and a potluck and great entertainment!).

  • Oregon Peace Festival
    -- Sat. Nov. 3
    A large march from Salem Riverfront Park to a rally at the Capitol.

  • Peace, Justice and Globalization Conference
    -- Oct. 19th - 21st
    Community Responses to 9/11
    This conference was held at the University of Oregon, and featured speakers Stephen Zunes, Bruce Gagnon, and Ann Fagan Ginger, as well as many community-led workshops, a film festival, art exhibits, and entertainment.

  • Benefit Concert -- Fri. Oct 19
    Michael Franti and Spearhead packed the McDonald Theatre in Eugene and created high-intensity, positive energy with their political hip hop.

  • March & Rally -- Sun. Oct. 7
    Rally for peace at the EMU's outside amphitheater, followed by a march through the U of O campus. The march and rally were part of a national day of action for peace. For additional information, see the press release.

  • Teach-In at UO -- Tue. Oct. 2
    An overwhelming success! Around 1500 people jammed into the Erb Memorial Union Ballroom and surrounding hallways to hear four speakers provide background on several aspects of the recent terrorist crisis. Discussion groups after the forum were also overflowing and gave people a chance to express opinions and discuss solutions and reactions to the terrorist attacks.
